Text
KJV Below (Link to NIV)
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Comment
Thus we are given two options: be vain and prideful as though everything we have comes solely from our efforts, or acknowledge God’s power over us, most of all by his spirit, in humility. Be God’s friend or the world’s friend? You cannot serve two masters.
Question
What do you think it means to be a friend of God? A friend of the world? Does being a friend of God mean you are an enemy of the world? Why or why not?
